Joomla's built-in user system plus components to handle response forms, downloads and online sales were mission-critical for events organized in 2009 by Satyananda Yoga in the UK.

Along with illustrated information about the events and the yoga movement behind it, a webshop with secure online payment processed several hundred payments. It meant people from both in and outside the UK could book and pay in one go – by PayPal or credit card – to maximize international sales and avoid bouncing cheques and banking fees.

The Open Source webshop component, Virtuemart, was integrated with a complex registration form and automated emails. Following the events, the webshop was re-purposed for sales of remaining CDs, T-shirts and accessories.

The well-functioning website simplified and made manageable a potential administrative nightmare. Joomla user groups allowed for collaboration, with people from teams in London and Yorkshire able to upload and amend documents and texts.

Job done, the domain has now been allowed to lapse.
