Here's what I do when I have to write original text about a new subject:
I research the subject actively and then let my ideas gather passively, ideally for a number of days. This gradual build-up will ensure a momentum for the creative flow.
I look for a central solid rock of logic – to mentally anchor the whole stream.
I consider the all-important subheads – the key divisions in the story.
I consider an attractive setting – layout, image and typography to facilitate the alpha state of relaxed, open awareness.
I build bridges to the nearby environment – such as links to related content or a relevant authority.
Meanwhile, the alchemical part of the process is taking place: forming the stream so that it contains both clear lines and interesting eddies – a modulated flow, organically channeled to a natural conclusion.
Finally, I ensure there is a clear onward direction for those who wish to carry on going with the flow...
